Helping Out
Offering to help others is a great way to meet people and make new friends (sometimes enemies if you're not careful!) There are many things that will need to be done when preparing for, arriving at and leaving an event such as: repairing costumes; hauling armor & weapons; etc… along with setting up camp; assisting with costumes in the mornings and evenings along with demobilizing the camp sites when applicable. Follow this basic rule: Contribute to the Kingdom and general populace. Don't expect others to do all of the work so you can enjoy yourself.
Encampments
If your camping at an event, remember that other people's camps are an extension of their home. Don't take shortcuts through the middle of someone's camp unless you have first asked their permission. Always ask before entering someone's camp, pavilion or trailer.
Act safe and sensible with camp fires! Don't set them up too close to someone's camp. Don't throw bottles, cans under pressure or fireworks of any sort directly into a fire. Don't leave camp fires unattended. Properly extinguish all camp fires prior to leaving the event.
Be courteous to others when deciding when to use external generators, loud music after hours, etc… so this remains an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Be sure to leave a campsite in as good or often better condition then when you arrived. Pick-up and properly dispose of all trash, regardless of whether or not it was yours. Lead by example!
Although many participants and patrons are trustworthy, it is always an encouraged practice to lock-up all valuables. Unfortunately, there are those individuals out there who will take advantage of any situation and prey on unsuspecting victims. Should you find yourself a victim of criminal damage or burglary notify the proper authorities and do not take the law into your own hands. |
